The maximum age limit for an applicant to apply for an ENS186 employer sponsored permanent residency visa is 44 UNLESS the applicant qualifies for an exemption:
For the ENS186 Direct Entry stream, applicants over 44 years of age may be eligible to apply if they fit in one of the following categories:
(a) academic applicants;
(b) science applicants;
(c) Subclass 444/461 workers.
For the ENS186 Temporary Residence Transition stream, applicants over 44 years of age may be eligible to apply if they fit in one of the following categories:
(a) academic applicants;
(b) regional medical practitioner applicants;
(c) science applicants;
(d) Subclass 457/482 workers; *
(e) transitional 457 workers under 50.
*If the applicant fits into category (d) Subclass 457/482 workers, the applicant may qualify for the age exemption to apply for the ENS186TRT employer sponsored permanent residency visa if:
- the applicant’s nominated occupation is on the relevant skilled list of occupations for the ENS186 visa: https://www.legislation.gov.au/Details/F2019L00275 and
- the applicant worked for their sponsoring employer for a period of 3 years in the same nominated occupation and
- At all times during those 3 years the applicant held a 457 or 482 visa and
- For each of the 3 years the applicant worked, the applicant was paid equal to or greater than the Fair Work high income threshold (FWHIT) which is currently approx. $148,700 (2020)
